Salasai SS11-12 'A Strange Love Project'
Inspired by the 1940's based French film, Delicatessen, Salasai's SS11-12 range is appropriately titled 'A Strange Love Project'. The beauty of this range lies in designer Kirsha Whitcher's satorial restraint, allowing drapery to take form in summery silks, soft organic cottons and linens. The muted palette flushed with nudes and taupes and mixed with playful spots, stripes and checks is cleverly balanced in a collection that is clean and highlighted with detail. Every style has a unique accent that beautifully enhances the classic shapes, from large text to pearl-like contrasting buttons and sweet applique stitching.
There is a strong unisex facet in this collection, Whitcher building on the idea of the genderless ideal that has seen Salasai's style concrete itself in the fashion hemisphere. My favourite pieces are the unisex 'Dr Strange Love Pants', the Linen Jacket and spotted 'House Dress'. They will be mine come August!

Talented Mr Poppelwell...
Martin Poppelwell lives on the beautiful East Coast of New Zealand. His purpose built studio sits on the hill of Napier in the Hawkes Bay Wine Country, close to the surf he enjoys. Poppelwell's art is full of ironic humour, playful phrases and provoking statements that has defined his style for the past 20 years. His clever use of text & intelligent application of paint is often adapted to an endless range of subject matter & media. Whether painting on pottery that shows the beauty of imperfections or painting on canvas, Poppelwells boundless appreciation for basic shapes and sketches described by the artist as 'doodles' is clear.

Karl Lagerfeld Library...
ADDICTION! My curse, my flaw, my habit. I'm addicted to 'The Selby' and addicted to books. This image is from the book 'The Selby is in your place'. It's taken inside Karl Lagerfeld's home. It's a beautiful display of books and interior style. I bought the book as a gift for my beloved friend and talented stylist/writer Dan Awha. I've wanted it back for myself ever since!!!
