Inspired by the 1940's based French film, Delicatessen, Salasai's SS11-12 range is appropriately titled 'A Strange Love Project'. The beauty of this range lies in designer Kirsha Whitcher's satorial restraint, allowing drapery to take form in summery silks, soft organic cottons and linens. The muted palette flushed with nudes and taupes and mixed with playful spots, stripes and checks is cleverly balanced in a collection that is clean and highlighted with detail. Every style has a unique accent that beautifully enhances the classic shapes, from large text to pearl-like contrasting buttons and sweet applique stitching.
There is a strong unisex facet in this collection, Whitcher building on the idea of the genderless ideal that has seen Salasai's style concrete itself in the fashion hemisphere. My favourite pieces are the unisex 'Dr Strange Love Pants', the Linen Jacket and spotted 'House Dress'. They will be mine come August!
